Exhibition at Meibohm Fine Arts, East Aurora, NY:
Friday, March 19, 2021- Saturday, April 17, 2021
Artist statement:
Using water media and mono print processes, I build layers of color which suggest a space. Each layer captures traces left by the water moving across the surface. Even though a gesture may be repeated, it will not appear the same way twice. This quality of transformative repetition recalls how we frame our memory of place.
The forms generate a type of map, recording the channels from which the
image is developed. Like mooring lines which provide stability while
allowing for motion, Spring Lines come into sight.
Back in 2012, the Burchfield Penney Art Center acquired Monica’s “River Crossing” triptych. In this video she talks about the importance of keeping the pieces together as a grouping and the process she used to create them.
Be inspired by Monica Angle’s style of creating with water media in her workshop, Water Influenced. This hands-on class begins with a conversation in her gallery exhibition, Working on The Seam.
Monica will demonstrate several techniques back in the studio
classroom, followed by time for participants to experiment with new and
alternative ways of working with water media.
